The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say. J.R.R. Tolkien

Finished Knitting Project

A friend asked me to knit something for her baby and so I decided to try a pattern from my new book. This pattern had a number of different things going on. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It isn't perfect, but I learned a number of new techniques. I hope Aiden likes it!

Bath Mat

I just finished weaving in the ends on my new bath mat. This project was knit with three strands of cotton. It was weird working with more than one strand at a time, the yarn kept getting twisted and drove me crazy.

But, the mat is super soft! I'm using it next to my bed for now (due to the cold mornings), until I complete the rug I'm going to start next.

Here's the finished project (there is one end that went a little wonky):

Baby Kimono

For my friend Christi's baby I wanted to knit something different. I found a pattern for a baby kimono. The picture showed it in white, but I actually had a patterned yarn that I decided to try. I'm really happy with how it turned out and Christi actually brought Aiden over last week and he was wearing it (no pictures of him though).

Knitting Pictures - Finally

I've been knitting a lot more and am actually working on four projects right now with ideas for a number of others.

My beautiful niece was born last September and I had been knitting a blanket for her since February when I found out Megan was pregnant.

I worked on the blanket on the plane twice, in a number of bars, quite a few nights of trivia and, of course, at my Grandma's. I didn't finish the blanket until the flight out to meet Fiona, but I was so happy with how it turned out. Here are pics of the finished project:

I love how the border turned out (which is what was completed on the plane).

Below is my brother with Fiona out in the crazy snow in Vancouver with her blanket:

Knitting Projects

I can finally post some pictures of my knitting projects. I just completed two pieces for my friend Tara's baby shower. A 'baby bib o'love' and a 'baby genius burping cloth'. They took me a little longer than I thought they would so I still want to knit one more baby bib.

Tara's baby shower was good. The day was beautiful and there was even time after for a swim in Christi's pool.
Julia has a knitting book that contains these two patterns and I liked the book so much that I bought it as well. This was my first foray into the purl stitch. Julia was very patient with me! I made a few mistakes, but I'm pretty happy with it. I can't wait to finish my next project.

Stitch and Bitch

Julia and I had our first 'stitch and bitch' session last night. I taught myself how to knit a couple of years ago, but haven't really done much. Julia had found that she wasn't knitting as much as she would like so we decided to set aside time each week to get together and make a concerted effort to knit. I'm almost done the scarf I started last summer. I can't wait to be finished as Julia has me excited about starting work on a blanket. We are going to go looking at yarn to pick out colours and I can't wait.
